Aroma Candling

Aroma Candling

Aroma Candling (previously called “Ear Candling”, “Ear Coning”, “Ear Funneling”, and “Auricular Candling”)*, is claimed by many as a great natural way to clean out accumulated wax, fungus and toxins from a person’s ear.  Additionally, many who have experienced this process find it very soothing and so come away from it with the added benefit of achieving a very calm and relaxed state of mind.  Consequently, Aroma Candling has been used for years as a holistic approach to promoting general health and an overall sense of well-being.

A Brief History

Aroma Candling has been practiced for centuries and, in fact, dates back as far as Biblical times, having been passed down for many generations from cultures literally around the world.  It’s been reported that the ancient Greeks and Egyptians used it as a folk remedy to improve clarity and focus.  Today, Aroma Candling is performed around the world with great success.

Who Can Benefit From Aroma Candling?

Some of the conditions that have been improved include:

Excessive or compacted wax in the ears

Sinus Headaches and Pressure

Dry and Excessive Coughs

l      Itchy Ears

l       Noises in the ears (ringing, tinnitus)

Additionally, Aroma Candling has been known to promote the stimulation of energy flow.

How Aroma Candling Is Performed

Aroma Candling should be performed by a practitioner who has been properly trained in the procedure.  The Aroma candle itself is cylindrical cone, usually 8-10 inches in length that is made of natural materials, such as paraffin or beeswax.  The person receiving the procedure lies down on a massage table with one side of their face flat against the table.  The Aroma candle is first inserted into a protective plate and then the candle is lit and slowly begins to burn.

The practitioner then carefully places the narrow, tapered end of the Aroma candle into the ear canal.  Many claim that as the candle burns, earwax and other toxins are drawn out from inside the ear canal and are drawn into the candle.

What You Can Expect

Your session should be a quiet, relaxing time!  You will only feel the candle being carefully inserted in your ear. You may hear some crackling and popping from the burning candle.

After the session, many report improved hearing, a sense of lightness and greater relaxation throughout their whole body.

A Word of Caution

Aroma Candling should not be performed on individuals who have ear tubes, perforated eardrums, congenital hearing loss or artificial eardrums.  If you have any concerns, it is advised that you should first seek advice from your physician.

While many have found it to be safe and effective, it should not replace medical treatment.

*(The FDA recently classified “Ear Candles” to be “Medical Devices”.  With this change, the term “Aroma Candles” must now be used in place of “Ear Candles”).
